At last count I had more than a dozen skin cleansing and beauty products that I use routinely. The majority of these products I use one or more times a day. Like a lot of folks, I never really gave any thought in regards to what was inside these products. I was more interested in what the products stated they could do for me, and not what they used to accomplish those results. I assumed that the products had to be safe in order for them to make it on to the shelf in my local drug store. Surely the FDA would not approve a moisturizer that could possibly cause cancer, right? Wrong! The fact is that manufacturers which make skin care products and cosmetics can put just about anything they want in their products. While the govt pays extremely close attention to companies which create products which are ingested into our bodies; they have virtually no rules controlling companies which create products we apply topically. You will likely be stunned to find out that many of the products you use on an everyday basis are loaded with toxins such as lead, mercury, and lots of other dangerous chemicals which have been known to cause serious health issues and in a number of cases have even been known for causing cancer. Even if you don?t use specialty products like wrinkle remover or cellulite cream, you?re still being exposed these toxins. This is because many of these ingredients are found in the products you use everyday such as your shampoo and body wash.
When I first learned about these toxins which were filling my bathroom counter, I was downright frightened. I chose to do some research to learn what I could do to avoid these toxins in my skin care and cosmetic products. I was shocked to find that many of the name brand products which I trusted contained lots of the toxins I was looking to avoid ? in some cases more so than the cheaper brands.
What I learned was that the simplest way to avoid these toxins was to buy organic or all natural products. While I was finding less toxins in the organic products, just purchasing something because it states that it?s organic is not enough. So as to ensure you are avoiding these dangerous ingredients, you will need to learn to read the labels much in the same manner as you would read a food label.
While inspecting the ingredients you have got to avoid products which list ingredients like petrolatum, mineral oil, paraffin, paraffin oil, and paraffin wax. These products come from crude oil and can clog the pores as well as interfering with the body?s normal activity of ridding itself of toxins. By interfering with this process you are basically poisoning yourself. You must also avoid products which contain sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) or ammonium lauryl sulphate. These ingredients are found in numerous so called natural products as well as about 90% of all frothing products. These ingredients which are common in shampoos and even toothpaste, are the same ingredients which are utilized for degreasing automobile engines. These toxins may cause damage to several of your internal organs as well as cause reproductive issues.
These are just a few of the toxins which you more than likely used this morning before leaving for work. Now that you are aware of some of the things which may be lurking in your bathroom, spend a little time to analyze your own personal care products. Do an online search for some of the ingredients you find listed on the products in your own bathroon ? you may just be stunned by what you find.
