IT WAS only late last year that James McKay was making his first appearance on community television and daring to dream of becoming the next Rove McManus.
The Bli Bli 20-year-old had launched his own internet talk show, The James McKay Show, which was picked up by Brisbane community television station 31 Digital.
Now that "silly, light-hearted entertainment program" has landed him a job on a new Sunshine Coast radio program.
Drive Time with James will be launched at 4pm tomorrow on 101.3FM.
James said it was a dream come true.
"I can't wait to get started. It is such a great opportunity to be doing a show on the Sunshine Coast," he said.
"It is going to be a lot of fun, especially because everything will be live."
The two-hour program will feature top-40 music charts, as well as comedy segments and talk-back.
James said the program was the next big step to stardom.
"It is a dream come true for me. It is something I have always wanted to do," he said.
"Hopefully the community tune in and enjoy a young person's view on the radio."
