MPs have been given a taste of Staffordshire at the Houses of Parliament.
The Staffordshire Food and Drink Festival was held in the Palace of Westminster and saw more than 20 food and drink producers ? including the likes of Lichfield?s Packington Free Range and Peter Coates of Alrewas ? showcasing their wares.
More than 50 MPs including Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Local Government, attended the event hosted by local MP Christopher Pincher.Philip Atkins, Leader of the County Council attended the event and said: ?I was delighted to see many of our local Staffordshire food and drink producers get this great opportunity to showcase their produce at such an influential event.
?Staffordshire has many great local food producers whose wares are cherished by our residents and are made with traditional methods. In mass production where goods are made with a mind for efficiency and output, traditional methods that add depth to a product are quite often lost.
?We have many producers who put personal pride into their work and products here in Staffordshire.
?Staffordshire is 80 per cent rural in land area and we need to seize any opportunities to include our own local farm produce in our goods to give everything we sell the authentic Staffordshire flavour and character.
?I?m sure that many of our residents will testify to the quality of Staffordshire?s food and drink, from our oatcakes and cheese to our bread and beers.?
Mr Pincher added: ?The Festival was a great success, with a huge number of people attending all contributing to a buzzing atmosphere.
?This event has put Staffordshire and Stoke firmly on the map as a food County and has raised the profile of products grown on our own door step.?
